Leesburg Police Officer Charged with Filing a False Report; Incident Being Investigated by District Attorney’s Office

A Leesburg Police Officer was arrested just after midnight Thursday.

According to information posted on the Sheriff’s Office website, 28 year old Jeffery Shannon Bain was booked in at the Cherokee County Detention Center at 12:31am on a Filing a False Report charge and was released at 1:28am after posting a $500 bond.  Bain, a former police officer with the Town of Ider in DeKalb County, went to work with the Town of Leesburg on August 21st of last year (2017).  

According to Leesburg Police Chief Brent Grimes, no additional information will be released until the official investigation being conducted by the District Attorney’s Office has been completed.
