Leesburg Police Seize Six Pounds Of Meth During A Traffic Stop

 

On Sunday Investigator/K9 handler Jamie Chatman with the Leesburg Police Department made a traffic stop on two individuals in Leesburg. The pair were Georgia residents living in a camper in Leesburg. Neither subject had a license and both had previous drug charges.

Following a search of the vehicle, officers discovered approximately 6 pounds of methamphetamine along with marijuana and controlled substance pills.  

57 year old Robert King of Cartersville and 31 year old Shantee King were arrested and booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges of Drug Trafficking and Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree – and with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Leesburg Officer Shane Butler along with Centre Police Officers and Investigators with the Cherokee County Sheriffs Office assisted in processing the scene.

Investigator Chatman told WEIS Radio News that the street value of the drugs seized is estimated to be close to $80,000 dollars.  

Chatman “it’s great to have the help from surrounding agency’s, it’s great to have help to process and get this stuff off the streets and homes of the community.”
