The Leesburg Town Council met for their November meeting recently in the town hall meeting room. Mayor Brandy Pierce called the meeting to order and led pledge to the American Flag. Councilman Frankie Brewster opened the meeting with prayer.
The council approved the previous meeting minutes and expenditures. In Old Business the council approved sponsoring a $1000.00 fish in the Crappie Rodeo put on by the Weiss Lake improvement Association.
The council approved the buyout with Fort Payne Police Department for Officer Shane Butler who hired on with Leesburg Police Department.
In New Business the council approved purchase of a 18ft trailer for town use. The council approved to pay Terry Dawson Construction a first installment of $4609.00 for work on bathroom. The council approved to purchase mechanics tools and screwdriver set for the Maintenance Department at $419.36.
The council approved to give Mayor Pierce authority to look into purchasing a safe for the town hall. Brandy is also going to check on lights for the Landing parking lot, and a new fuel tank for the generator. The council approved to purchase computers for the police department in their report which was a budgeted item.
Police Chief Brent Grimes is applying for a grant for tasers.
The town employee Christmas party is scheduled for December 3rd at Decks and Docks Restaurant.
