The council approved the minutes from the previous months meeting in addition to approving the bills for payment. SOme brief discussion was also given regarding upgrading the security cameras at the Leesburg Landing.
Mayor Brandy Pierce also presented the council with proposals for edging to be placed around the playground at the town park. Mayor Pierce said that the town is still in the process of working on a grant for repairs and upgrades to the towns sewer system, Pierce also stated that the parking lot at the landing had been striped.
The council also approved the purchase of a K-12 Demolition Saw for the fire department at a cost not to exceed $1,500. Some discussion was also given regarding purchasing a new truck for the maintenance department, that issue was tabled until such time council members could gather some additional information.
Following a brief Executive Session the council returned an appointed Jimmy Tillery to fill a vacant council seat formerly held by his late wife Diane. Councilwoman Tillery passed away earlier this year. Mr. Tillery will be officially sworn at a later date.
The council also received the quarterly report from Police Chief Brent Grimes.
The Leesburg Town Council meets on the first Monday of the month.
