A number of Leesburg residents are asking when the sewer project along J.T. Mackey Drive and Lokey Street will be completed.
Mary Lee Gibson was at the most recent council meeting and she shared her concerns with those in attendance
Mayor Ed Mackey had this response
Project engineers with Ladd Environmental were on hand and had this to say
As it stands now, no one knows when Granger Construction Company of Calera will come back to Leesburg to finish the project.
And in other business the town council hired James Goodwin to fill a maintenance position at the starting salary of $12.00 an hour; Mayor Mackey said Goodwin has a CDL license adding that he would “bring a lot to the department.”
The mayor also informed the council that the town is getting a new high-tech time clock for its employees. That clock will feature a “thumb scanner” to identify each employee – and following each scan the time is automatically sent to the clerk’s office, effectively eliminating time cards.
The council also tabled a request from one employee to change their work week, from five eight-hour shifts to four ten-hour shifts. The council will reconsider that request during their meeting in May.
