Former Auburn Head Coach Pat Dye was in Centre on Tuesday morning speaking to a large of group gathered on the campus Gadsden State Cherokee for the Cherokee County American Values Breakfast sponsored by the local troop of Boy Scouts of America.
During the ceremony legendary Cherokee County Head Football Coach Bobby Joe Johnson was honored with Heart of the Eagle award honoring a laundry list of accomplishments throughout his career.

Also among those accomplishments included Coach Johnson being inducted in the Alabama Sports Writers Association Hall of Fame, The Cherokee County Sports Hall of Fame and having the field at Cherokee County High School named in his honor.
Coach Dye stated that it is individuals like Coach Johnson who help to mold and shape kids into well rounded citizens –
It is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America to serve others by helping to instill values in young people and in other ways to prepare them to make ethical choices over their lifetime in achieving their full potential.
