Today is “Lion’s Club” day on WEIS Radio.

For more than 30 years WEIS Radio has hosted the special fundraising event in conjunction with the Centre Lion’s Club.

The Centre Lion’s Club was chartered back in 1938 and since that time the organization has been making a difference in our community.

While sight is of course the passion of the Lion’s Club – the local chapter has helped high school students with scholarships, and with their annual John L. Ellis, Sr. Youth Leadership Forum; and each year they take a number of children shopping for Christmas – in conjunction with the Nettie King Brown Christmas Clearinghouse.

Other fundraising events include their annual Pancake Day and Lion’s Club Radio Day on WEIS

Current Lion’s Club Officers in Cherokee County include Ann Shumaker, Bob Covington, John Ellis, Terry Dean, Harold Trammell, Gaylon Hammett, Yvonne Salmoni, Linda Starr, Jeff Wolfe and Ed Allen.
