More snow is on the way, maybe as much as 6 to 8 inches more before late Thursday.

Local officials listened in on a weather briefing from the Alabama Emergency Management Agency Tuesday afternoon.

In addition to the snow, we could see an ice accumulation of around 1/10ths of an inch, maybe more.

Preparations are already underway.

Cherokee County Engineer Corey Chambers says the Highway Department will approach the coming storm like they did the one Tuesday.

Jay Hinesley, CEO of Cherokee Medical Center says the hospital is also getting ready.

Meanwhile, Rescue Squad Chief and EMS Coordinator Danny Smith says they are getting ready too.

Cherokee County EMA Director Beverly Daniel says a Warming Center will open this afternoon at 5 p.m. at Cherokee Health and Rehab.

She explained what people need to bring with them.
