School systems in our WEIS listening area have put out alerts to parents of schools dismissing early due to some incoming severe weather heading our direction this evening.
Cherokee County Schools will be dismissed today at 2:00 pm due to the threat of severe weather, according to the Schoolcast alert sent out to parents.
Etowah County and Gadsden City Schools will dismiss at 1:30 pm, and all after-school activities are canceled.
DeKalb County Schools will dismiss at 1:00 pm, and all afternoon activities are cancelled.
These dismissals are based on guidance recommendation from the National Weather Service and EMA. It is believed that the storm lines are weakening but could continue throughout the afternoon hours. All school encourage parents, students, and others to be weather aware.
