Log Truck Overturns And Catches Fire On County Road 29 / UPDATED

UPDATED

A stretch of County Road 29 in Rock Run was shut down for an extended period of time late Monday afternoon after a log truck overturned and caught fire.

The driver of the ’98 Mack truck – listed on the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report as a resident of Muscadine, Alabama – managed to exit the rig under his own power, and was checked out at the scene, fortunately requiring no further medical treatment.

The accident occurred at 5:15pm and motorists were forced to find an alternate route for a considerable length of time, as removing those logs from the roadway proved to be a major undertaking.

The McCords Fire Department, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Piedmont Rescue, Cherokee County EMA personnel, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency all responded to the scene.

The cause of that accident remains under investigation by troopers.
