Log Truck Overturns on Georgia 20 Near Coosa High School

Coosa Big Rig Wreck

Officials say the driver of a log truck that overturned on Georgia 20, near Coosa High School, on Thursday afternoon was not hurt in the mishap.

Logs were scattered across the roadway, blocking traffic for an extended period of time.

Battalion Chief Greg Abbott said the truck fortunately did not spill any fuel after rolling over.

Floyd County Police Spokesman Jerome Poole, identified the driver of that rig as Michael Atkins of Rome; he was driving for the W.C. Timber Company.

Atkins was charged with Failure to Maintain Lane.

The cause of that accident remains under investigation.
