Longtime Cherokee County Businessman Tab Chandler Has Passed Away

Tab Chandler was a businessman operating businesses in both Etowah and Cherokee Counties from 1960 until the time of his death on Friday. His businesses included: Tab’s Sporting Goods, Tab’s Auction Company, Cherokee Trade Day and Farmers’ Market, The Brass Shop, Tab’s Storage Building and Market, and Tab’s Fish Bow Villa. He was also part owner of Centre Motel, Inc.

Tab was instrumental in acquiring K-Mart, Hardees, and Captain D’s in Centre and was also known for his real estate expertise.

He was a life- long member of Centre First Baptist Church.

Tab was well known for his antics and jokes that he played on friends and total strangers alike. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a smile for everyone.

Visitation for Tab will be at Perry Funeral Home, Sunday, October 28 from 2 pm-5pm. Funeral service will follow at 5pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ROC Building Fund at First Baptist Church, Centre

Tab is survived by the “love of his life” Peggy Spearman Chandler, sons: Ty Chandler, Centre, Tobey Chandler, Huntsville, Torey (Sherrie) Chandler, Centre, and Tony (Shirley) Chandler, Leesburg, brother: Harold Day, Seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father, Travis Chandler, mother, Deatrice Day, stepfather D.T. Day, and brother, Ecil Chandler.
