Major Crimes Unit And The State Fire Marshal’s Office Investigating House Fire In Cedar Bluff

One person was airlifted to the Burn Unit at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after being severely burned in a house fire on County Road 131 in Cedar Bluff.

Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation very little information is being released at this time however here’s what we know.

Cedar Bluff, Gaylesville, Centre Fire Departments received the initial call at 8:39 Friday night reporting the blaze, upon their arrival the victim whose name is not being released at this time, was found laying in the front yard of the home suffering from serious burn injuries. She was immediately rushed from the scene by Cherokee EMS Paramedics and taken to a landing zone at Cedar Bluff High School and flown to a Burn Unit in Atlanta.

The home itself suffered extensive damage.

Firefighters were on the scene through the early morning hours.  Deputy State Fire Marshal Ray Cumby, Senior Forensics Investigator Mark Hopwood with JSU’s Center for Applied Forensics and members of the Cherokee County Major Crimes Unit were called to the scene.
