Man Accidentally Drives Truck into Coosa River off of Rainbow Drive in Gadsden Monday Morning

It’s a pretty safe bet that one man’s insurance carrier is going to have a stern talk with him after he drove his truck went into the Coosa River Monday morning.

The driver reportedly told law enforcement that, as he was pulling out of the parking lot of the Jack’s Restaurant on Rainbow Drive, he stepped on the gas instead of the brake, sending his Chevy Colorado into the river behind the restaurant just after 8:00am.

The man was able to roll down the driver’s side window and climb out of the vehicle before swimming to shore.

Gadsden Fire & Rescue and several members of the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office worked with an area wrecker service for more than an hour to retrieve the vehicle from the water.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.
