Man Arrested Following Shooting Incident in DeKalb County

PopeThe investigation into a shooting incident occurring last Friday in DeKalb County continues

DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, along with Crossville Police and Alabama Troopers responded to a 9-1-1 call of a shooting on County Road 386 in the Aroney community about 8:30 that night.

The victim, who was shot in the lower leg, was identified as 55 year old James Harold Burns of a Boaz address; the shooter 47 year old Max William Pope, also from Boaz was taken into custody at the scene and charged with Assault 1st Degree.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris says additional charges are pending.

Pope remains in the DeKalb County Detention Center with bond yet to be set.
