A gunman was behind bars only moments after he attempted to rob a woman in front of the Red Lobster on Rainbow Drive, just after 12:00 noon Monday.
According to police reports, 19 year old Pinson resident, Austin Abernathy, pointed a gun at the victim and threatened to kill her if she didn’t turn over her purse.
He then grabbed the purse and fled down Rainbow Drive.
The Gadsden Police Department Special Projects Team quickly swarmed that area and soon apprehended the suspect.
He still had the purse, which contained cash and credit cards, in his possession.
Abernathy was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center charged with Robbery 1st Degree.
