Man Arrested on Drug and Disorderly Conduct Charges Following Incident with Knife at Ft Payne Waffle House

A 36 year old Ft Payne man was taken into custody without further incident following some tense moments at the Ft Payne Waffle House.

Ft Payne Police were dispatched to the restaurant at around 3:00am Friday, after managers called to report that a man was at the restaurant acting “erratically” – and by that point had actually jumped the counter and grabbed a butch knife from the grill area.

According to Police Chief Randy Bynum, Officer Josh Jones and Lt. David Smith made verbal contact with the subject, who was identified as Oscar Lee Jones, Jr., and he was very shortly thereafter taken into custody peacefully.

Jones was placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, the Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

No one inside the restaurant was hurt.
