Man Breaks Into Home while Homeowner is Present

Johnson 1000

A Boaz man apparently didn’t do his homework before breaking into a home on John L. Gap Road in Etowah County.

The homeowner was inside when they heard someone trying to break in through a door, so she hid and dialed 9-1-1; Sardis City Police Chief James Harp responded to that call and met the suspect, as he was leaving the home. 19 year old David Andrew Johnson was taken into custody and charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Theft of Property 2nd Degree and also with Possession of Burglary Tools.

He was then taken to his temporary residence at the Etowah County Detention Center – and that’s where he’ll bunk until he makes his $10,000 bond.
