Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Being Given a Ride to Liquor Store

Green

54 year old Nickolas Green was arrested in Ohatchee at around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon in connection with a report of shots fired and a vehicle fire.

According to Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson – 54 year old Green went next door to ask his neighbor for a ride to the liquor store; the neighbor said that on the way back Green started yelling at him for no reason and appeared to be highly intoxicated.

After returning home the man went back inside to speak with a friend who was visiting, but after a few minutes, they heard a noise outside and saw Green pouring gasoline on the Ford Ranger pickup, then set it on fire.

When he ran outside to confront Green, the victim was shot twice in the abdomen, and was air-lifted from the scene to a Birmingham area hospital for treatment.

Green was taken into custody and has since been charged with Attempted Murder and with Criminal Mischief.
