Man Charged with Harassment Following Odd Behavior at Hammondville Gas Station

After exhibiting some rather odd, and some may say menacing behavior, a man from Bryant has been jailed in DeKalb County,

The incident that led to his incarceration took place at the gas station on Alabama Highway 117 at I-59 in Hammondville.  A young woman was reportedly pumping gas, when she noticed a man that she didn’t know walking around her car, acting as though he may go toward the driver’s side door.  After quickly getting in her car and locking the doors, she witnessed the man getting into a white Mercedes; he then parked across the road and began filming her.

After an acquaintance arrived to help the woman, the suspect drove to the Interstate where he appeared to be waiting on the victim.  He was also seen at a Trenton, Georgia gas station, exhibiting the same type behavior. Investigators with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office obtained security footage of both the suspect and the car, and after posting images on social media, they managed to identify that subject as 44 year old Eugene Evans.

He was located and picked up by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and was charged with Harassment before being booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center.

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said that while the subject didn’t attack the victim – his intentions may have been much worse.”
