A 19 year old Rome resident has been charged with first degree arson and reckless conduct after allegedly setting fire to a house on Walnut Avenue while a woman was asleep inside.
Floyd County Jail records indicate that Roderick Lewis Whittaker – of a South Broad Street address – set fire to his bed as he was leaving the home last Sunday (December 21st).
No motive has yet been given regarding his actions.
The investigation into the matter is on-going.
