A high-speed chase involving an Attalla patrol officer and a motorcycle ended with the Boaz man on the bike being arrested on multiple charges – including drug trafficking.

According to the information in a news release issued by Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit Commander Randall Johnson Attalla Police Officer Matt Stokes had attempted to stop a motorcycle within the city limits – when the operator refused to pull over, and chose to flee northbound on I-59 – opting to stop the bike on I-59 just past the U.S. Highway 11 overpass and attempt to flee on foot.

Officer Stokes quickly caught up with the subject and took him into custody.  The individual was found to be in possession of approximately 334 grams of suspected methamphetamine in addition to a quantity of marijuana, digital scales, a glass pipe and $2,041 in cash.

In addition to drug trafficking, 38 year old Justin Scott Mansel was charged with Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree and the Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; he was out on bond for drug trafficking at the time of his arrest.

He is currently being held in the Etowah County Jail without bond.
