Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader says that an accident on Dakota Drive took the life of an elderly Trion man; at around 6:30 Wednesday evening Chattooga 9-1-1 received a call reporting a vehicle falling on a man while he was working on it in the yard of his home.
Both Redmond EMS and the Sheriff’s Office responded with Chief Investigator Eddie Stroup being called in to confirm details surrounding the accident. Chattooga County Coroner Earl Rainwater confirmed the death of Morgan Hampton shortly after 10:00pm.
Sheriff Schrader said the preliminary investigation indicated that the incident was simply a tragic accident.
