A 40-year old man was hospitalized after reportedly cutting his own throat on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Jerome Poole with the Floyd County Police Department, County investigators had been working with Alabama authorities, trying to recover some stolen property.
Adam Dempsey was first picked up at a pawn shop on Shorter Avenue at around 11:30 Tuesday morning after allegedly trying to pawn some of the items.
Dempsey was brought in and questioned and was cooperating.
Investigators drove him to the parking lot of another business on Shorter to recover more items from his vehicle. It was at that time, he got a knife and cut his own throat.
Dempsey was conscious and alert when rushed to the hospital.
