A man who involved in a shoot-out with Weaver police officers on Saturday night was found dead of what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound – after members of law enforcement entered the home.

Police received a call at around 6:30pm Saturday regarding a domestic dispute in the 400 block of Bailey Road.  Two Weaver police officers responded, and a man raised a shouldered weapon from his carport door and opened fire.  Those officers took cover and called for assistance with Anniston and Oxford Police, along with members of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responding.

During the stand-off the man shouted that he didn’t intend to come out alive – and he continued firing his weapon – tactical teams eventually entered the home where they   found him dead.

The man was identified as Ricardo E. Caraballosa, age 53.

No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident – shots fired by Caraballosa hit neighboring homes and cars/

The investigation is being led by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department.
