Man Shot After Pulling Over to Help Motorist

A man was treated for his injuries at Floyd Medical Center Sunday night after being shot in the shoulder when he stopped to help what he thought was a motorist in need.

According Floyd County Police, the victim was driving westbound on Berwin Road when he saw a silver Chevrolet pulled over on the side of the road; the man at the Chevy reportedly acted as if he needed help but when the victim stopped and went over the man pulled a gun on him and took his wallet.

Police say there was a scuffle and the victim was shot in the right shoulder

The shooter got into his car and drove away toward U.S. 53. The victim got back into his car and drove himself to the hospital.

The suspect, described as a black male, around five-seven (5’7″) with short hair, remains at large.
