A man allegedly stealing scrap metal from the yard of a Marshall County homeowner apparently let his mouth get him into more trouble than he could handle.

WAFF TV48 is reporting that, according to authorities, the homeowner caught two men trying to steal scrap metal from his property – and when he confronted them – one of the pair came toward him and threatened to kill him; that’s when the homeowner shot the man in the groin with a rifle.

Both men managed to flee the scene; Marshall County Sheriff’s Office Deputies quickly located, and arrested, 25 year old Paul Curtis Reed; 23 year old Aaron Michael Lawson was later located at Huntsville Hospital being treated for his wounds; he was taken into custody following surgery.

Both Reed and Lawson were charged with First Degree Theft and Criminal Trespass.
