Man Taken Into Custody Following A Brief Pursuit After Stealing A Glencoe Fire Department Vehicle

A suspect is in custody after stealing a Fire Department vehicle belonging to the Glencoe Fire Department while they were on a medical call.

According to Glencoe Fire Chief Richard Johnson personnel were taking a patient out of a house when he heard the rear hatch of his Chevy Tahoe close, that’s when he noticed a man near his vehicle. He called out to the man and that’s when he jumped in the vehicle at sped away.

Johnson notified Etowah 911 of the situation and an Etowah County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the vehicle with the emergency lights still activated.  The deputy initiated a pursuit that traveled up Highway 278, Highway 431 and down College Parkway before coming to a stop, of all places, in front of the Glencoe Fire Station.

The suspect identified as Logan Norton was taken into custody. It is unknown at this time what charges he will face.

Gadsden Police and Glencoe Police provided assistance.
