Sheriff’s Office employees are about to receive a $400 bonus in Marshall County, where the county commission approved hazard pay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All office employees will receive that one-time payment on their next paycheck.
Sheriff Phil Sims says he recommended that pay since workers were essential, they couldn’t take time off, and they worked around the clock. Sims said domestic calls have increased dramatically during the time that people have been staying at home.
A total of 82 employees will receive the hazard pay. Commissioners approved a resolution to provide Tier I benefits to Tier II plan members which Sims says will help them retain and recruit more employees.
