Mayor Says City Is Not Pulling Out Of Dispatch Contract

The Centre City Council held a work session on Wednesday afternoon to continue their fact finding mission regarding the possibility of purchasing equipment for the purpose of dispatching the police department if negotiations with the current 9-1-1 contract cannot reached.

Mayor Tony Wilkie said that his only problem with the current pricing is he feels the city is asked to pay more than their fair share based on population. Wilkie also said he thinks that we have a great dispatch system that serves the city and county extremely well.

The City Council wants to meet with the Cherokee County E9-1-1 Board at their next meeting to see if they can reach an agreement that will satisfy both entities.
