McAdoo, Giants Penalized by NFL for Walkie-Talkie Use

Allen Kee / ESPN Images(EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.) — The NFL has fined the New York Giants $150,000 and head coach Ben McAdoo $50,000 for the use of walkie-talkies in the team’s Week 14 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

The use violated the NFL’s game operations policy, because two-way radios cannot be cut off within 15 seconds of the play clock expiring like the NFL’s.

New York will also have their fourth round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft dropped below compensatory picks, as long as it doesn’t go 12 spots below where they would have originally selected.

The drive in which the Giants’ used the walkie-talkies ended in Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning throwing an interception.

The Giants released a statement accepting the penalty and taking full responsibilty for the incident.
