Mentone Man Charged with Cutting Trees at Ft Payne Residence without Homeowner’s Permission

Clues were pretty easy to come by when it came to making an arrest in a case of trees being cut down without the homeowner’s permission at a Ft Payne residence.

According to information in a news release from Ft Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum – a 36 year old Mentone man stands accused of entering a yard at 8th Street NW and cutting down several expensive trees and bushes on the property.  While on routine patrol in the area, Lt. Matt Wilson observed a male subject standing in the alleyway of Alabama Avenue and Forest Avenue and when he approached the individual he ran into a residence at 1713 Forest Avenue.

Lt. Wilson spoke with the subject – identified as Nathan “Buck” Strictland – and saw that he had bleeding scratches on his shin and also had sawdust on him.

An axe and a large hand saw were recovered from inside the home, and two and two added up to four and Strictland was placed under arrest in connection with the cutting of the trees and bushes on 8th Street.
