ABC/Heidi Gutman(LOS ANGELES) — Big screen legend Meryl Streep could soon be coming to television.
Deadline reports the legendary actress will star in and co-produce The Nix, along with Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams.
Based on the novel of the same name from Nathan Hill, the small-screen project would have Streep playing a hippie woman who abandons her family only to surface decades later when she’s accused of “an absurd crime” that “inflames a politically divided country,” according to its Amazon review.
Her estranged professor son then sees a chance to get out of debts by leveling an expose against his absentee mom.
Abrams is expected to direct some of the episodes of the program, which has yet to find a network home.
