Message From Superintendent Of Education Mitchell Guice

The Cherokee County Schools Instructional Leadership Team met Friday morning to view a virtual meeting with State Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey. After receiving information from Dr. Mackey, the team plans to meet with school principals to develop an academic continuity plan for the remainder of the school year.

Schools are still scheduled to be closed with no student work required until Monday, April 6th. Starting on April 6th, students will be presented with school work to be completed at home.

How students will receive their work and the expectations for completing and submitting their work will be determined in the next couple of days.

The hope is to finish the current school year by the original last school day of May 21, 2020. Dr. Mackey has given an ultimate final date of June 5, 2020, for this school year.

The first actions to be taken will involve cleaning the schools and making contacts with students and parents regarding resources that are available for students to use while they finish the school year at home. More information will be provided to the public as plans are finalized and information regarding completing school work at home have been collected. Other details, such as graduation dates, will also be provided as soon as possible.
