One Injured; One Shaken Up in Highway 273 Wreck / UPDATED

There was a two-vehicle accident on Highway 273, at the intersection with County Road 48, near Sand Rock on Tuesday evening, which left one person injured.

The Sand Rock Fire Department, Cherokee EMS and the Cherokee County Rescue Squad – in addition to Alabama State Troopers responded to the scene just after 6:00pm where a 2004 Chevy pickup and a 1989 Ford pickup collided. 

Family members at the scene informed WEIS Radio News that the occupant of the Ford – 60 year old Daniel Bright of Cedar Bluff – was only shaken up in that mishap.

Meanwhile, a passenger in the Chevy pickup, 67 year old Rhonda McPherson, of Collinsville, was listed on the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report as being hurt although the driver, 70 year old Johnny McPherson, managed to escape injury.  Rhonda McPherson is listed on the report as being taken to the hospital by EMS ground units after complaining of back pain.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
