A female reported missing from Cherokee Rock Village on Saturday was found safe after she got lost while jogging on a trail on Saturday afternoon.

The girl was with a group of friends and decided to go for a jog on the hiking trails around 4:30 that afternoon when she got lost. She was able to see some lights off in the distance and followed the lights to a residence on the Lay Springs side of the mountain.

Once she got to the residence she contacted her parents who picked her up and brought her back up to Cherokee Rock Village to meet with 1st responders to make sure she was ok. She was located around 10:30 Saturday night.

The Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, Cherokee EMS and the Leesburg, Sand Rock and Tuckers Chapel Fire Departments all responded.
