Mississippi Truck Driver Killed In Accident In Cedar Bluff

A Mississippi man was killed on Friday afternoon in a single vehicle accident on Highway 9 near the intersection of Forrest Street in Cedar Bluff.

According to Cherokee County Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton, the victim has been identified as 37 year old Charles Robert Beavers of Dennis, MS. Beavers was pronounced dead at the scene.

The mishap occurred just before 2:00 p.m. when the 18 wheeler the man was driving left the road near H&L Motors, jumped two ditches, struck a power pole, barreled through a fence and finally came to rest against a tree. It is not known at this time exactly what caused Beavers to crash.

The impact of the accident caused the trailer to split into two pieces and according to Cherokee County Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton, the driver died at the scene before rescue workers could extricate him.

Power was out in the area for an extended period of time as Cherokee Electric Crews worked to replace the broke pole and lines.

Those responding to the scene included the Cedar Bluff Police and Fire Departments, Cherokee EMS, the Cherokee County Rescue Squad, the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office along with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department.

Additional assistance was called in from the Centre and Gaylesville Fire Departments to assist with traffic control.
