Mixed results on Wall Street as Amazon reports biggest Cyber Monday sales ever

Amazon(NEW YORK) — A mixed day for the markets Wednesday as the Dow posted sizable gains, despite down days for the other major indices.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 103.97 to end the day at 23,940.68.

The Nasdaq dropped more than one percent, closing at 6,824.34, a loss of 88.02. The S&P also fell, finishing the session at 2,626.07, 0.97 lower than its open.

The price of crude oil dropped 1.2 percent on Wednesday. The cost of a barrel fell to $57.41.

Amazon said Cyber Monday was its biggest sales day ever, and that customers purchased hundreds of millions of products during the Turkey 5 — the time between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday.

Chipotle’s CEO is stepping down. The Mexican food chain said the company needs to change more quickly to stay in business.

A new study from McKinsey Global Institute says 375 million jobs could be automated by 2030.

ESPN laid off 150 employees Wednesday. Disney is the parent company of both ESPN and ABC News.
