There’s some good news for Gadsden and the surrounding areas – with Tier I automotive supplier Motus Integrated Technologies announcing plans to build a brand new $15 million manufacturing plant in Gadsden.
The plant which will produce automotive interior parts and headliners will reportedly start construction within a few weeks and is scheduled to open sometime around mid-2020. The plant will be built in the area of Gadsden’s Airport Industrial Park, with approximately 90 people to be hired. According to officials another 10 jobs will come from Motus’ Cottondale facility.
Motus supplies several automotive manufacturers, with facilities in Michigan and Germany, Japan, China and Mexico, providing jobs to more than 2,000. The company said the jobs in Gadsden would have an average wage of more than $20 an hour.
Gadsden city officials stated that the process of bringing Motus to Gadsden took 15 months, and involved a very thorough vetting process.
Gadsden Mayor Sherman Guyton said the announcement of the plant, and high paying jobs, makes for “a great day for Gadsden and Etowah County.”
