More on Monday’s Official Ground Breaking Event in Cherokee County for the Four-Laning Project from Centre to Gadsden

After literally decades an official Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Highway 411 four-lane project took place in Leesburg Monday – and Alabama Governor Kay Ivey was on-hand for the the big event:

This particular project – the first since passage of the Rebuild Alabama Act – comprising the new highway from Turkeytown in Etowah County, to west of Leesburg in Cherokee County will finally complete a four-lane corridor from the county seat at Centre to I-759 and I-59 in Gadsden.

Cherokee County Probate Judge/Commission Chairman Tim Burgess shared his thoughts:

WEIS Radio News also asked the judge what the four-lane project could mean to the county, in light of extension of our airport runway, which is now able to accommodate mid-size jets

Once the four-laning project has been completed, along with the expansion of the airport, the future of Cherokee County looks extremely bright.
