Motorists Urged to Exercise Extreme Caution on School Grounds and Near School Buses

There’s certainly a lesson to be learned here as a single-vehicle accident taking place  Thursday in Limestone County sent a child to the hospital. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report, around 7:30am, a female juvenile attempting to cross the road to board a school bus – was struck by a 2014 Honda Accord.  She was transported to a nearby hospital for the treatment of unspecified injuries. The wreck took place on Nick Davis Road near Twin Drive roughly three miles east of Athens.

The driver, also a juvenile, was cited for Reckless Driving and Passing a School Bus.

No additional information is being released at this time and the incident is still under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.

We here at WEIS Radio urge everyone – adults and juveniles alike – to be ESPECIALLY vigilant and cautious in school zones or anywhere a school bus may be picking up OR dropping off children.  A momentary distraction such as talking on your cell phone or texting, can lead to tragedy.
