Motorists Urged to Slow Down in Area of Bridge Construction Work Zone in Ellisville

We spoke with Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver regarding traffic concerns at the Bridge Construction Work Zone on Highway 9 in Ellisville.

The Sheriff informed us that they’ve received complaints of motorists traveling through the area at high rates of speed, often creating a dangerous environment for the work crews.

Every year, a number of dedicated, hard working employees across the nation fall victim to careless drivers – we urge you to slow down and to exercise caution when approaching this area.  Sheriff Shaver also would like to point out that the speed limit does drop dramatically as you approach that area – and when a speeding ticket is issued in a work zone – the fine is doubled.

A law enforcement detail will be stationed at the bridge from this point forward in an effort to ensure the safety of those working on that project.
