Mount Vernon Mills Issues Statement on Recent Fire

Mount Vernon Mills in Chattooga County, Georgia has issued a statement on the blaze that recently occurred in the weaving operation portion of the facility.

The statement reads as follows:  “There was no loss of life or serious injury, but there was damage to the building and minor damage to the weaving equipment.  The most serious damage was in areas no longer being utilized, and the mill was able to start-up operations at 10:00am on Monday at a little more than 50% of capacity and will build to 100% over the next week or so.”

The statement ends by saying that there may be a delay in some deliveries, for a brief period

Anyone with any information on the fire – which started at multiple points inside the building – should contact the Trion Police Department.
