Mr. Charles Allen Hammett age 76 of Leesburg passed away Saturday December 26th at Cherokee Health & Rehab.
Funeral services will be 3 PM Tuesday December 29th at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Cosby and Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating, burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 PM Tuesday.
Pallbearers include Harvel Anderson, Randall Bailey, Elliott Crisler, Orville Edge, Bernie Kimmons and Charles Singleton. Honorary Pallbearers include Tom Harton and Tim Harton.
Survivors include wife, Wanda Adrian Hammett of Leesburg; sons, Terrance Allen (Bonnie) Hammett of Cartersville, Ga., Dennis Paul (Melissa) Hammett of Charleston, SC., Charles Eric (Jenny) Hammett of Marietta, Ga. and Stanley David (Kaci) Hammett of Douglasville, Ga.; sisters, Sara Jo Crisler of Cedar Bluff and Sue Leonardson of Cedar Bluff; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hammett was a native of Cherokee County and the son of the late Pierce and Lexie Riddle Hammett. Mr. Hammett was a member of the Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church, retired from the National Guard and the Cherokee County Board of Education and was a Mason.
