Mr. Earl DeBerry, age 99 of Centre, passed away Thursday, November 1st at Floyd Medical Center, after a long and full life.
Funeral services will be 3:PM Sunday, November 4th at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chip Smith, Rev. John Allen and Rev. Leon Smith officiating; burial will follow at Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3:PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include Harold Day, Jimmy DeBerry, Adrian Bouchillon, Brian Bouchillon, Kevin McDuffie, Lane Stinson, Eric Ellis and Jarrod Bazemore.
Survivors include a son, Gary (SuEllen) DeBerry; daughter, Gloria (Jim) Bouchillon; grandchildren, Adrian Bouchillon, Brian Bouchillon and Jennifer McDuffie; 8 great grandchildren, and very special friend, Sybol Ellis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Owens DeBerry.
Mr. DeBerry was a native of Cherokee County, the son of the late Hollie and Belle Morrison DeBerry. He was a WWII Veteran. Following his military service, he was employed as a salesman for a life insurance company and for 3M. He finished his career as a self-employed business man. Earl graduated from Cherokee County High School, where he played football and was known as a fine running back. Several years ago, he was honored as the oldest living Warrior from CCHS. As a long devoted member of East Centre Baptist Church, he served in various ways, including many years as a church deacon. In 2011, the congregation of East Centre dedicated a Sunday to honor him for his faithful service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to East Centre Baptist Church.
