Mr. James Travis Battles, age 71 of Centre, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 in the Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3rd at 7 P.M. at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ted Elrod officiating. Burial will be at Cherokee Memory Garden. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 P.M. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Weisner Volunteer Fire Department or Sand Rock Cemetery Fund.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Garmon Battles; sons, Phil (Angela) Battles of Sand Rock, Stan(Brandi) Battles of Dutton, Andy (Gina) Battles of Southside, Melissa (Brian) Hincy and Eric (Kandie) Oden of Centre; brothers, W.T. “Dub” Battles and Clifford (Helen) Battles of Muscle Shoals, Lloyd (Carol) Battles of Collinsville, David (Susan) Battles of Sand Rock; sisters, Marilyn (Bill) Lumsden of Sand Rock, Peggy (John Frank) Jones of Rome, GA; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
Travis was a native of Cherokee County, the son of the late John Thomas and Aulcie Mae Johnson Battles, was retired from General Electric and a Baptist by faith. He was a long time member of the Cherokee Cruisers Car Club.
Family Members will serve as pallbearers.
