Mr. Travis James

Mr. Travis James, age 88, passed away Sunday May 12 at his residence after an extended illness. 

He was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County. 

Mr. James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jane Cleveland James: one daughter, Suzanne James (Tracy) Bishop; two sons, Keith (Pam) James and David (Cindy) James. He was also survived by 5 grandchildren, Kacy (Pete) Lemons; Haley (Tim) Trammell; Matt (Caitlin) Bishop; Zach Bishop and Joel Bishop:  Three great-grandchildren, Blake Wright, Ty Trammell and A. J. Lemons.  He was preceded in death by his parents D. V. and Willie Campbell James.

Mr. James owned and operated Cherokee Milling Co. in Centre.  He also served on the Board of Directors of Farmers and Merchants Bank and the Cherokee County Department of Human Resources.  He was a Mason and a lifelong member of Centre First United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday May 14th.  The funeral will be held on Wednesday May 15th at 2:00 PM with Reverend John Mullaney and Reverend Tommy Ledbetter officiating at the Centre First United Methodist Church.
