Mrs. Barbara Laney Jordan Shaw

Mrs. Barbara Laney Jordan Shaw, 77 entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 after a long battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband, R.L. Shaw, Cedar Bluff; daughter, Jennifer Jordan, Gadsden; granddaughter, Whitney Watson , New Orleans, LA; one grandson, Hiland Chamblee,
Austin, TX; sisters, Mary Lee Tucker of Centre, and Linda Meadows of Collinsville; brother, Harold Laney of Hokes Bluff.

Mrs. Shaw is preceded in death by her parent s, George and Elizabeth Laney, and her brother, Mike Laney.

Mrs. Shaw was a seamstress, beautician, and sales manager.  But, her true passion was being creative.  She made the most amazing things that she loved to give away.  She was kind, funny, compassionate, strong, and beautiful.  As a family, we will miss her presence immensely.

The past few years were a struggle but she was a warrior to the end.  We will be forever grateful to those who helped her and us through this journey: her chosen sisters and close friends, the amazing people at Southern Care Hospice, and the angels at Cherokee County Health and Rehab.  Her time spent at the nursing home allowed her to see old friends and meet so many new friends.  She loved you all.

A memorial service to honor her and her life will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Perry Funeral Home with visitation from 1-3 pm and service at 3pm.

“Don’t weep at my grave, for I am not there.  I’ve a date with a butterfly to dance in the air.  I’ll be singing in the sunshine, wild and free playing tag with the wind while I am waiting for thee.”

She will always be our beautiful butterfly…
