Mrs. Betty Jean Strickland age 81 of Centre passed away Wednesday October 24th at Cherokee Health and Rehab.
Funeral services will be 3: PM Saturday October 27that Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chip Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cherokee Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 1: PM until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers are Al Acrey, Steve Cunningham, Rob Strickland, Dennis Cook, Mike Pierce, Ken Reason.
Honorary Pallbearers: Henry Allen “Plug” Ray and Junior Davis.
Betty is survived by her sons; Stacy (Susan) Strickland of Lafayette, GA, Stan (Nancy) Strickland of Opelika, AL, sister; Martha Acrey (Roger) Smith of Centre, grandsons; Rob (Hannah) Strickland and Kerry Strickland, several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her husband Van Strickland.
Betty was a native of Cherokee County the daughter of the late John and Mamie King Cunningham.
Mrs. Strickland was a retired teacher, having taught at Centre Elementary School for many years, was a member of East Centre Baptist Church and was an avid golfer.
