Mrs. Betty Stansell Touchstone

Mrs. Betty Stansell Touchstone, age 86, of Rome peacefully passed away Tuesday July 1, 2014 at her Residence.

Mrs. Touchstone was born December 15, 1927 in Floyd County, a daughter of the late Robert H. Stansell, Sr. and Eva Lee Weeks Stansell. She graduated from McHenry High School in 1945.  On November 20, 1949 she married Howard Touchstone. Together for almost 65 years, they have traveled to various parts of the U.S. & England. After 22 years of service she retired from the General Electric Credit Union in 1990.

Known to many as “The Napkin Lady”, Betty Jane was first and foremost a loving and giving Christian woman.  She insisted that no one ever leave her presence without a gift.  She spent hours sewing napkins to give to all she met.  Her napkins are present in homes across the Southeast.

Betty Jane was a dedicated Charter Member of West Rome United Methodist Church where she was the pianist for 40 years.

In recent years she loved watching her great-grandchildren grow and play.
Very vigilant in attending events for her loved ones from T-Ball games to Ballet Recitals, our Grandmother was always there.

Survivors include her husband, Howard W. Touchstone, son and daughter in law, Randall and Vicki Touchstone, Euharlee; daughter and son in law, Gloria and Kennith Moseley, Gaylesville, Al; brother and sister in law, Robert H. and Helen Stansell, Jr. Rome; grandchildren, Eric Touchstone, Angela Szeremeta, Brian Moseley, Tiffany Moseley, Emily Mobbs, 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday July 3, 2014 at West Rome United Methodist Church, with Rev. Wayne Hopper, and Rev. Mark McLendon, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 P.M. on Wednesday July 2, 2014 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.

Mrs. Touchstone will lie instate at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour on Thursday.

Memorials may be made West United Methodist Church, 1003 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165. Or the family will accept flowers.

Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are asked to meet at the church by 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Eric Touchstone, Brian Moseley, Chris Stansell, J.W. Bridges, Kent Bridges, Larry Touchstone, Keith Touchstone, and Brent Mobbs.
